MMPR #111 sells out at distributor level, second printing ordered

BOOM! Studios on Tuesday announced that the first printing of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111 has sold out at the distributor level.

The second printing, with new cover art by Dan Mora, hits shelves Sept. 13. The issue marks the start of the comic's Darkest Hour arc. The creative team includes writer Melissa Flores, artist Simona Di Gianfelice, colorist Raúl Angulo and letterer Ed Dukeshire.

“The Darkest Hour has already set the bar incredibly high for the Power Rangers,” Filip Sablik, President of Publishing & Sales for BOOM! Studios, said in a statement. “Melissa, Simona, Raúl, and Ed have truly created the biggest event to date in MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS history and we’re committed to ensuring every fan is able to jump on board with the first chapter!”

The new issue sees a victorious Mistress Vile in control of the Grid, with Dark Specter's infections spreading through the universe. The Rangers face an impossible choice between saving their friend or saving the universe from Dark Specter. They wind up separated and stranded until help arrives from an unlikely source, but not the help they were looking for.

The first printing is available at local comic book shops and on digital storefronts on Aug. 23.
