New issue of MMPR comic marks start of Darkest Hour arc

BOOM! Studios on Monday offered a preview of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #111, the start of the Darkest Hour arc.

The new issue hits shelves and digital storefronts Aug. 23.

Writer Melissa Flores, artist Simona Di Gianfelice, colorist Raúl Angulo and letterer Ed Dukeshire return to kick of the 12-month event.

Mistress Vile has won, or so it seems, with control of the Grid and Dark Specter’s infections spreading through the universe! The Rangers are presented with the impossible choice of saving either their friend or the universe against  Dark Specter and find themselves separated and stranded until they receive help from the last team they’d expect, but not be the help they were hoping for.

The new issue features main cover art by Taurin Clarke (Miles Morales: Spider-Man) with variants by Björn Barends (Spawn), Goñi Montes (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Keyla Valerio (Power Rangers Unlimited), Ariel Olivetti (BRZRKR) and Tyler Kirkham (Invincible).
